I Want to Start a Business or Invest in Australia

There are four visa streams under the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP - subclass 188). The BIIP 188 visas offer a direct pathway to permanent residence after three years, subject to meeting certain residence and investment or business turnover requirements. The initial visa will be valid for five years.

Subclass 188 (Provisional)

This Visa is designed for people who have an ownership interest in a business in their home country would like to establish a new or develop an existing business in Australia.

Subclass 188 (Provisional)

This Visa is designed for people who want to make a designated investment of at least AUD 2.5 million into a complying Australian-managed investment fund for the duration of the provisional visa validity and reside in the country for at least two years.

Significant Investor Stream

Subclass 188 (Provisional)

This Visa designed for people who are prepared to invest at least AUD 5 million into a complying Australian-managed investment fund for the duration of the provisional visa validity and reside in the country for an average of 40 days a year for primary visa holders.

Subclass 888 (Permanent)

This is a Permanent Visa designed for people who hold a Subclass 188 (BIIP) Provisional Business Innovation, Investment, or Entrepreneur Visa and have met the requirements of that visa in the stream in which they first applied.
